Austrian bronze and tortoiseshell box - 19th century

Rhomboidal in shape, gilded bronze with tortoiseshell inserts (hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, Cheloniidae) resting on four spherical feet; the lower edge and the hinged lid decorated with whirls and masks, the four corners and the edge of the lid with male and female figures in 17th century costumes. Concealed lid closure.
