Władysław Chmieliński (1911–1979) was a painter associated with Warsaw, where he lived and worked permanently. From 1926 to 1931, he studied at the Warsaw Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting (formerly the Drawing Class). The predominant subject of his paintings was cityscapes, executed in oil and watercolor. From 1935 to 1938, he created a series of watercolors depicting examples of Polish architecture, including the interiors of the Royal Castle in Warsaw and the Palace in Wilanów. After the war, he also enjoyed painting horses against landscape backdrops. From 1936 to 1939, the artist also used the pseudonym “Władysław Stachowicz.”
