Ryszard Otręba (b.1932) - is a graphic artist and illustrator, he also works in industrial design. From 1953 to 1959 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow at the Interior Design Department. In 1956 he additionally took up graphic design studies in the studio of Prof. Mieczyslaw Wejman. After graduation he became a researcher. at his alma mater, he also designed industrial forms. In 1966 he went on a one-year scholarship to the Pratt Institute in New. York, which made his name famous among American art audiences. His works have been featured in many institutions on this continent, including: the Guggenheim Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New. York, the Library of Congress of the United States. Otraba's works were also part of permanent exhibitions in European museums and galleries, including: National Museum in Stockholm, French National Library in Paris, Tate Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In 2007, he received the City of Cracow Award for lifetime achievement in art.
