Konstantin Shevchenko was a painter who often depicted the daily life of the Jewish community in his works. His portraits of Jews were distinguished by realism and attention to details of the models' clothing and physiognomy. The artist tried to capture not only the appearance of his models, but also their inner world, traditions and sense of identity, which makes his portraits a valuable testimony to the era and customs.
