The International Silver Company was founded in 1898 by the owners of a New England silver and plateware factory. When manufacturers from other regions of the United States, as well as Canada, joined between 1898 and 1903, ISC became the world's largest producer of silverware. The International Silver Company eagerly drew on English design from the first quarter of the 19th century, and often copied early products, most notably Sheffield plateware.
