Bulgarian artist, painter, draughtsman, collage and printmaking artist; graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia in 1978. In 1995 he was awarded the prestigious The Pollock - Krasner Foundation Fellowship for the innovative nature of his work. He has exhibited extensively, both in Europe and the United States (including Il Saggiatore gallery in Rome, Zinzen gallery in Brussels, Folly Theater Gallery in Kansas, Gallery 88 in Luxembrgu). Demirdijan's oeuvre can be divided into several stages: initially, from 1978 to 1983, he painted figurative compositions in a constructivist approach (interiors, still lifes), from 1983 to 1987 he devoted to experiments with expressionism - during this time he also painted grotesque figurative compositions in tempera; after 1987 his entire oeuvre centered around explorations moving in the direction of abstract expressionism. In 2008, he founded his own gallery "Edmond Studio and Salon" in Sofia.
