Edward Dwurnik studied painting and printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1963 to 1970. As he believed, during the first years of his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, "he had no vision for his art." After coming into contact with the works of Bernard Buffet, he saw new possibilities for painting, but it was only the experience of the Nikifor exhibition in 1965 that helped him find a form to support the realization of his own ideas. From this event his passion for creation began. It was then that he created paintings included in painting series such as Hitchhiking, Warsaw, Portrait. In 1970-1971 he painted The Road (Ten Stations of the Secular Crucifixion). Dwurnik believes that he truly found "his subject" in March 1968. The artistic solution, in addressing this problem, was to build multi-element compositions, to complicate, to create relationships between the subjects of the painting. He painted more than 5,000 paintings. Dwurnik regularly presented his paintings depicting the capitals of various European Union countries during the Celebrations of the Presidency of the European Union held at the Chojnata Palace in Wola Chojnata.
He was awarded among others: "Solidarity" Cultural Award (1983), Nouvelle Biennale de Paris (1985), Seoul Art Olympiad Award (1988) and Contemporary Art Foundation Award (1992).
He is buried in the Alley of the Distinguished at the Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw.
