From 2001 to 2006 studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Prof. Adam Wsiolkowski. Also under the guidance of this pedagogue, he earned his doctoral degree in 2009. He is currently an assistant professor in his studio. In 2017, he received a postdoctoral degree. Kowalik practices painting and works in installation, object and performance. He is active as an organizer, curator and art supervisor.
