Michał Smółka (b. 1957) graduated in 1983 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Faculty of Graphic Arts in Katowice, where he studied under Professors Jerzy Duda-Gracz, Roman Nowotarski, and Bronisław Chromy. Since 1988, he has lived in Poniatowa in the Lublin region. He has strong ties to the artistic community of Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula River and has been exhibiting his works for many years at the DWA ŚWIATY gallery. He has had approximately 30 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions, and has received several awards and honors. He has served as curator for many national and international plein air painting events. Artistic travel is very important to him, especially to the islands of the Indian Ocean and southern Europe. For years, he has supported the “Bliźniemu Swemu” charity auctions organized by the St. Brother Albert Aid Society, as well as the Grand Auction of Contemporary Polish Art in New York. His most recent exhibitions include “Light and Color” in 2017 at the Nadwiślańskie Museum in Kazimierz Dolny and “Color Contrasts” in 2018 at the M2 Gallery in the Mysłowice Cultural Center.
