Szymon Szewczyk was born in 1989. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Painting in Katowice. Audiovisual artist, stage designer and designer. Author of theater music and "expetriment electronic project DMKHV. Mainly creates paintings, objects, collages and installations. The fields of his work are man's relationship with his material and cultural environment, connections between seemingly distant phenomena, conspiracy theories, temporality, DIY, cheap materials, creative makeshift, temporality, information overload, suspicious scientific texts, silly jokes, deadly seriousness, garbage, imitations, distortions, mistakes, invented rituals, tame exoticism, doubt in orderly knowledge of the world. A finalist in Hestia's 2012 Artistic Journey competition, his work has been seen at the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, the Museum of Modern Art as part of the 2016 Warsaw Under Construction festival, BWA in Katowice, CCA Kronika in Bytom, Szara Kamienica Gallery in Krakow, Kasia Michalski Gallery in Warsaw, the State Art Gallery in Sopot and the Roundabout of Art in Katowice, among others. He has done set design for the J. Slowacki Theater and the National Old Theater in Krakow, the J. Osterwa Theater in Lublin and the Silesian Theater in Katowice, among others. Selected exhibitions: "Ktokolwiek widział, ktokolwiek wie" (CCA Kronika, Bytom, 2001); "Optimism" (with Adam Laska, Rondo Sztuki gallery, Katowice, 2012); "Milky Teeth" (Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art, Slupsk, 2014); "Plants and Animals" (Hotel Silesia installation as part of the Night Activities of the BWA in Katowice, 2014); "Witchcraft" (Two Left Hands Gallery, Katowice, 2014); "Last Day of Man" (BWA Katowice, 2017); "Gradual Slope" ( in collaboration with Michal Luczak and Joanna Rzepka-Dziedzic, Silesian Museum in Katowice, 2019).
