The charming church of St. Benedict, built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, is the oldest brick monument of Podgórze (a district of Krakow, until 1915 an independent city), erected on Lasota Hill. Its foundations, however, hide traces of a much older building, even before the year 1000. The interior of the small temple can be seen only once a year - on the Tuesday after Easter, when the area comes alive with Rękawka, an indulgence derived from the ancient Slavic cult of the dead.
