Postwar Poland (1944–1952)
Copies of the front and back of a 50 groszy banknote that was never put into circulation, printed on white paper without a watermark
2 pieces in total. While preparing the currency reform in 1950, the National Bank of Poland did not have a precise understanding of the quantity and value of the individual denominations of coins to be issued for the first time after the war. Therefore, it commissioned designs for the two lowest denominations in the form of banknotes worth 50 groszy and 1 zloty, which, however, were never put into circulation. These were also designed by Wacław Borowski as part of the July 1, 1948, issue... Despite their low denominations, space was reserved on them for a watermark. Banknotes of these denominations did not enter circulation, as they were replaced by coins. Unique, original designs of these banknotes have been preserved at the National Bank of Poland
