Rudolf MĘKICKI (1887–1942), *Bibliotheca Arcis Pomorzanensis*, 1928.

Bibliotheca Arcis Pomorzanensis, 1928.

Zinc engraving on paper, approx. 11.6 × 6.0 cm. Ex-libris of the Potocki family library in Pomorzany. The composition is adorned with the coat of arms of the Pilawa Potocki family, above which is depicted a view of the castle in Pomorzany—a former magnate’s residence located near Lviv. Below the depiction is the Latin inscription “Bibliotheca Arcis Pomorzanensis” (“Library of the Pomorzany Castle”). Below the composition is the artist’s signature: “R. M.” The work is dated 1928.
The work belongs to Rudolf Mękicki’s characteristic style of heraldic-landscape ex-libris. The combination of the owners’ coat of arms with an image of their residence lends the composition a representative character, and the Latin inscription emphasizes the bookplate’s intended use in a library. Traces of moisture damage; professional repair of a tear in the lower corner.
