Józef Adamczyk (Krakow 1943-2013 Krakow) Polish sculptor. Graduated from Antoni Kenar School in Zakopane, graduating in 1965 with a degree in furniture making, and from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduating from the Department of Sculpture in Prof. Tadeusz Łodziany's studio in 1972. After graduation, he returned to his native Cracow. He was a woodcarver, his works in wood often referred to folk traditions. He also created numerous chamber sculptures in bronze, characteristic of which are bold, expressive gestures and a kind of austerity. Another important part of Adamczyk's artistic output is the realization of medals and commemorative plaques; his numerous medals are in the Museum of Medal Art in Wroclaw. In drawing, he was characterized by a certain line and freedom, and one of his favorite media was ink and pen. He participated in exhibitions and competitions at home and abroad. He has created realizations in Tarnow, Warsaw, Cracow, Krynica and Kyiv. His sculptures are in private collections and museums at home and abroad. In the 1980s, he worked with director Kazimierz Dejmek and the Polish Theater in Warsaw, creating sculptures for stage sets.
