In July 1944, he was mobilized and drafted into the Second People's Army of the Polish Army, with which he went through its entire combat route. In 1951, he took up studies at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Katowice, but quickly transferred to the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he studied under E. Eibisch and where he received his diploma in 1956. After graduation, he returned to settle in Mikolow. For 18 years, until 1974, he worked as a teacher of drawing and art education at the pedagogical school in Katowice, combining teaching work with artistic creation. From 1965 to 1976, he also exhibited his works in the Realist Painters Group. He became most famous as a portraitist, but his still lifes and landscapes were also recognized. In 1974, he resigned from teaching, moved to Katowice and devoted himself exclusively to painting.
