Janta-Polczynski's report on a trip to Poland that the writer took in 1948. At that time he visited Warsaw, Wroclaw, Krakow, Poznan and Szczecin
"Unlike emigrants in general, Jerzy Giedroyc wanted to find out what was actually happening in Poland, and to know it from a native Pole in whom he would have confidence. One of the representatives of the intelligentsia who set the tone of the émigré diaspora, and also a good expert on the rules of the Western world, went to Poland. In Janta's reportage, there are no fundamental political and economic assessments. He does not mention the existence of anti-communist partisans. Instead, there is a picture of the everyday life of Poles, for whom the reconstruction of the country was the supreme national goal. Janta-Polczynski, like other reporters, described what he saw and felt while talking to familiar and unknown compatriots." [source: https://instytutksiazki.pl]
