From the author: "This study is a collection of materials for the history of the unit, which:

# was established in March 1940 as the Artillery Group "Grenade" of the Union of Armed Struggle,

# was raised to the rank of a regiment in February 1942 and received the name: 10th Cadre Artillery Regiment of the Home Army,

# on August 2, 1944, under the conditions of insurgent fighting, became the "Grenade" grouping.

Under each of these names operated a team of people overwhelmed by one desire and aiming at the same goal. This was the active struggle against the German occupier and the independence of the Fatherland. It was my intention to compile a monograph of the unit, but I found that the material at my disposal did not allow me to do so. The work would have too many gaps, and probably also many inaccuracies. So I decided on a more modest intention: to publish the materials as I managed to collect them. They had been waiting too long to be made more widely available anyway. More than half a century has passed since the branch's history began. This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the days that weighed heavily on the psyche of a serious part of the participants in the events Memory is becoming increasingly unreliable, people are passing away, and the documents and records they left behind are often treated as unnecessary junk by their heirs and discarded."
