The composition "Two Islands" depicts monumental forms emerging from a coastal landscape. The profiles of a man and a woman are enhanced by fantastic architectural structures. Interestingly, one of the figures bears a resemblance to the physiognomy of the author himself. Sętowski's characteristic workshop precision is combined here with a wealth of detail and a subtle, warm color scheme based on broken oranges, blues and sandy tones.
The motif of organic architecture and "cities of imagination" are among the key themes of Sętowski's work. The artist builds his compositions as elaborate fantasy worlds in which urban, mechanical and human elements form a single, coherent symbolic structure. The motif of dialogue and, at the same time, separateness, shown in the mutual reflection of two forms - the title islands - separated by a narrow strip of sea, remains particularly significant in the offered work. The composition strikes a balance between narrative and decorativeness, familiar from the artist's most acclaimed works of the period.
