[Lublin] CELLARIUS, Andreas (1596–1665) — *Lublinensis*. Amsterdam: Valckenier, 1659/1660.
Copperplate engraving, 110 × 134 mm, printed on a sheet of paper measuring 127 × 142 mm, blank reverse. Folding crease, paper slightly discolored.
A panoramic view of Lublin, framed at the top on both sides by coats of arms: on the left is the crowned White Eagle, and on the right is the coat of arms of the city of Lublin featuring a goat leaning against a vine. The city is depicted from across a wide river or low-lying foreground terrain, with a small boat on the water and scattered buildings on the nearer bank. Further in the distance rises a densely built-up city panorama with numerous towers, church spires, and gabled roofs. The three most important churches are labeled above the view, and one of the city gates is marked.
The view is part of a set of twenty depictions of cities included in Andreas Cellarius’s description of Poland and Lithuania, first published without illustrations in 1652, and subsequently reprinted with a map and city views in the Latin edition of 1659 and the Dutch edition of 1660. The view replicates an earlier depiction of Lublin published by Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg in their famous *Civitates Orbis Terrarum*.
An attractive early printed view of Lublin, repeating the characteristic panoramic composition of Braun and Hogenberg’s original.
