Eversen was a pupil of Cornelius Springer and continued the latter's choice of city vedute themes. In keeping with the new conception of the time, however, Eversen emphasized the romantic aspect, but also the social aspect, the hustle and bustle in the alleyways, for which the architecture now often functioned as an important but backdrop-like framing. Eversen was represented in numerous exhibitions, for example in The Hague and Bremen in the 1860s, in Dresden in 1871 and 1880, as well as in Berlin and Vienna in 1882.
