Biography
He studied from 1857 to 1866 at the Kraków School of Fine Arts under the guidance of W. Łuszczkiewicz and F. Szynalewski. From 1868, he studied at the Vienna Academy. From 1871 to 1900, he lived in Munich, and after returning to Poland, in Warsaw and Szczawnica. He painted realistic genre scenes, portraits, landscapes, historical paintings, and scenes from the January Uprising—in which he participated. He was awarded medals at exhibitions in Vienna, Munich, and Berlin, among other places. He was very popular in Germany, Austria, the United States, and England.
