In the scene the Virgin Mary, intent on prayer on the right, receives from the Archangel Gabriel on the left the announcement that she will be the Mother of Jesus, through the work of the Holy Spirit present in the form of divine light. The forms are light and fluffy while the setting, on a neutral background, highlights the bright colors of the figures' clothes with strong chiaroscuro contrasts.
