A slender tree rising in the middle divides the painting into two halves. The right half of the picture is backed by a rugged rock massif. In front of this a religious scene of two hermits is captured. The left half of the picture is dominated by a view of a river surrounded by tall deciduous trees. The atmospheric painting is decorated in brown and green tones. Only the flesh and the blue cloak of the standing hermit highlight the group of figures. Oil on canvas, 65x83cm.
