In a large palatial interior with two semicircular arches leading into another room, between them, on a high plinth on a gold-colored throne, topped with a long blue canopy hanging from above, sits a young Roman emperor with a pink cloak, who is watching pronounces a judgment on a man standing in front of him with a long, bright blue coat. The man could be Paulus, behind whom another man is already waiting on the left with a rope to tie him up. On the right a seated secretary who keeps accounts of the conviction and a standing woman who laments the conviction with violent gestures. Numerous surrounding figures follow this judgment. In the background on the right, through one of the archways, you can see the condemned Paul being led away in chains by two men
