Painter and lithographer, collegiate counselor. He studied in Berlin, Vienna, Munich and Rome. He created in St. Petersburg. He made portraits of Russian actors and actresses and religious paintings for St. Petersburg's Catholic churches and Orthodox churches. He painted an altar painting (Ascension) for the Lutheran Church in Weissenstein (1848). He also did genre painting, mainly hunting scenes. His Portrait of an Old Tramp (1834) and Landscape are in a museum in Riga. In 1859, he was awarded the title of landscape painter by the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg for his painting View of an Inn in the Estonian Governorate.
