The light falls from an unknown source from the top left and illuminates parts of his hair and the right side of his face. The strong light and dark painting is reminiscent of the works of the Caravaggists.
From 1633 onwards, the artist worked for a long time in Venice and Bologna, and in 1647 he went to Rome. Influences from Salvator Rosa (1615-1673), but also from Carracci, can be seen in his works. Oil on paper on wood, 45.5x35.5cm.
