Biography
He was the brother of the painter Bronisława Rychter-Janowska and the husband of the playwright Gabriela Zapolska (1901–1910). From 1882 to 1886, he studied at the State School of Fine Arts in Kraków under J. Jabłoński, F. Szynalewski, and W. Łuszczkiewicz. From 1887 to 1890, he continued his studies at the Munich Academy under J. C. Herterich and A. Liezen-Mayer. In 1912, he became a professor at the Free Academy of Art in Lviv. His first exhibition took place in 1886 at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts (TPSP) in Kraków. He painted landscapes, portraits, genre scenes, and hunting scenes, and during his service in the Legions, he produced many drawings and watercolors on military themes.
