The swordmaker's address is given on the armorial booklet: F. Barnes & Co., 109 Fenchurch St., London. The gilt bronze hilt bears the maker's mark (a knight's helmet with sword, surrounded by the letters 'FBD') - F Delacour & Backes. Solid gilt basket with embossed anchor, folding guard, lion head shaped pommel, full back of handle decorated with lion's mane. White sharkskin handle with twisted wire. Black leather scabbard with three gold-plated brass fittings and two hanging rings. With original portepee. In original case, with silver plaque on top of lid with engraved text.
