Edmund Burke (1912-1999) was a Polish painter and printmaker. From 1931 to 1935 he studied at the Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting, and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where his teachers included Felicjan Szczęsny Kowarski and Leonard Pękalski. He defended his diploma in 1946. During World War II he was active as a soldier in the Home Army, participating in Operation "N" and the Warsaw Uprising. After the war, he designed the ornamentation of the facades of tenements in Warsaw's Old and New Town, supervising, among other things, frescoes and sgraffito
