5 groszy 1939 of the General Government, a zinc coin from the German occupation period, struck at the mint in Warsaw. Despite the date 1939 appearing on the coin, this type of 5-grosz coin was not put into circulation until 1943. A distinctive feature of the coin is the central hole, which distinguishes it from the pre-war 5-grosz coin of the Second Polish Republic.
This piece has been graded by NGC at the high grade of MS 65.
The obverse has a darker tone, while the reverse has retained its bright, silvery zinc color on approximately 90% of its surface. The coin shows no visible corrosion spots, with very well-preserved detail and an attractive appearance.
A must-have for collectors of General Government coins graded by NGC.
