Sigismund I the Old, Half-Groschen 1529, Vilnius – V – a host of errors – very rare
A variant featuring Pogoń without a sword scabbard (short hind legs) on the obverse and an eagle with the upper feathers pointing toward the eagle’s head (varying number of feathers on the wings) on the reverse.
A variant with the letter V beneath the Pogoń.
A variant with a colon after “LITVANIE”
Error – in the word MONETA … the letter N was struck over the letter T, overprint MONE/TTA – very rare.
Date error – in the date, the digit Z was struck over the letter N, overprint I5Z/N9 – very rare.

Condition: 2/2-
Slight nicking on the edge, but fully legible and, for this type, a beautifully preserved piece. Good luster and plenty of mint mirror finish. Rare year. Very rare errors. In this condition, the coin is very rare and very difficult to find on the collector’s market.
