August II the Strong, 2/3 thaler, 1701 ILH, Dresden – very nice
Obverse:
A bust in right-facing profile, clad in armor covered by a cloak.
Inscription on the rim: D G FRID AUGUST REX POLONIARUM
Reverse:
Crown. Beneath the crown, between palm branches, two shields bearing the coats of arms of Poland, Lithuania, and Saxony. Below the shields, 2/3 and the initials I L-H (Johann Lorenz Holland—master of the Dresden Mint).
On the rim, an inscription divided at the top by a crown: DUX SAX I C M A & W S R I ARCH & EL (hook) 1701

A beautifully struck and well-preserved piece. Three-dimensional relief. Beautiful detail. Charming patina. Luster and mint mirror finish. High NGC grade. In this condition, the coin is quite rare and rather difficult to find on the market. A beautiful piece for discerning collectors.
