Provincial bronze issue of Domitian (AD 81–96), struck at Antioch on the Orontes in Syria and dated to the early years of his reign (c. AD 81–83).
Antioch, the capital of the province of Syria and one of the largest cities of the Roman Empire, functioned as an important minting centre supplying coinage for circulation across the Levant. The mint activity of the city during the Flavian dynasty is well documented both in the surviving numismatic material and in historical literature.
