oil, canvas, 50 x 40 cm, signed p.d.: Blanka Adamus
Blanka Adamus (born 1988) is a native of Krakow. It was there that she spent most of her childhood before beginning her studies in Paris.
In Paris, Blanka Adamus developed her artistic skills by taking courses in artistic morphology at the Academy of Fine Arts. As a further development, she also gained experience in painting and drawing at the Ateliers Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris. After spending more than a decade in France, the artist decided to move to Canada, from where she made numerous trips to the US and Latin America, which significantly influenced her work.
Blanka Adamus specializes in oil painting, which gives her great freedom to create textures in her works. Although she draws inspiration from abstract painters, her paintings remain figurative, with a clear emphasis on portraits. She uses traditional materials, but strives to give her paintings a modern expression. A distinctive feature of her works is their clear texture, achieved by applying paint in thick layers to model their appearance. Her paintings are often distinguished by visible brushstrokes and a sense of unfinishedness, which engages the viewer in the creative process.
The color scheme of Blanka Adamus' works exudes creative freedom and does not always reflect reality. For the artist, the visual effect is more important than the realism of the depicted objects. The works clearly depict human bodies, combining elements of figurative and abstract painting. The artist harmoniously combines the body, light and everyday objects to create a coherent image. They appeal to subjective associations, encouraging viewers to build personal relationships. Through her works, Blanka Adamus aims to combine tradition and modernity, creating works that intrigue and inspire.
