oil on canvas, 120 x 100 cm, signed on the reverse: 'Piotr Kachny "Good Night Tokyo" 2026'
Piotr Kachny was born in 1978 in Kluczbork (Opole Voivodeship). He graduated from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Faculty of Pedagogy and Art in Kalisz) with a degree in Fine Arts (BFA in painting) and from the National College of Art and Design (Dublin). He paints and works in artistic photography and photomontage. In both painting and photography, he is interested in the human figure. He uses photographs featuring people he often knows, as well as figures from the worlds of film, music, and entertainment in the broadest sense. These figures serve as a kind of pretext for constructing the image. In his paintings, the face itself can resemble an architectural structure. Geometry = harmony. However, what matters most is often invisible at first glance: emotions, feelings, state of mind, character, sensuality, sexuality... Furthermore, he reveals what is sensual in a person—yet with which they have lost touch due to the influence of culture, its associated conventions, and education (upbringing). Hence, the most frequently used images are those of women, typically young, beautiful, and sensual. Sometimes the subject is male-female relationships. Above all, however, it is sensuality and sexuality—topics that are taboo in many religious, social, political, and sociological systems and beliefs. The artist poses questions such as: Do sexuality and sensuality exclude spirituality, or are they connected to it? His paintings are also inspired by various attitudes and patterns of social behavior. He collaborates with numerous galleries and auction houses in Poland and around the world.
