described in pencil l.d.: Tower of Babel (obliterated)
Painter and illustrator. He became famous for his conceptual design of so-called counted paintings. In the ink drawings and gouaches of Roman Opalka from 1960, in their complex structures, compositions that unite repeated, similar elements, we find a foreshadowing of future works. The continuation of Opałka's explorations in the field of fine structures - and in this sense a direct extension of the concept of Chronomas - were the prints (B.Kowalska, Roman Opałka, Cracow 1996, p. 42). A mature realization of this concept was a series of acidite prints "Describing the World", started in 1968. It includes the presented works, which were awarded at international reviews of graphics.
