Victor Vasarely - artist of Hungarian origin, who created and worked in France until his death. One of the leading representatives of geometric abstraction. Considered a precursor and representative of the op-art trend. He created by composing arrangements, using geometric shapes (the most characteristic are cube-shaped compositions). He created the illusion of spatial depth on two-dimensional surfaces, using only abstract color patches. Originally, his works were dominated by black and white colors, which he greatly diversified in his later work.
From 1955, he created series of "optical-kinetic" paintings that give the impression of pulsating, waving, spinning or flickering. Since 1960, the artist developed the concept of a visual alphabet entitled "Planetary Folklore" in theoretical manifestos.
"Vega-Tek" is part of the "Vega" series, which explores themes of deformation, sphericity and space in the context of op-art. The painting is characterized by precise geometry, in which Vasarely uses repeated patterns and shapes to create the illusion of movement and three-dimensionality. A key element in "Vega-Tek" is the contrast between colors, which heighten the impression of depth and space. Vasarely often used bright colors juxtaposed with dark ones, which creates a pulsating and dynamic effect. The painting uses optical illusions that make a flat surface appear to have three-dimensional shapes and structures. The viewer's eye is drawn into a visual game where the painting's surface seems to ripple and deform.
The work reflects Vasarely's fascination with the mathematical and scientific principles he used to create his compositions. Patterns and symmetry are thought out with mathematical precision.
