The painting presented at the auction shows the right bank of the Dead Vistula River in Gdansk. It shows the port buildings of the Schichau Shipyard - warehouses and depots. On the right, on the horizon line, is the characteristic silhouette of a hammerhead crane, before the war commonly called "Grandfather." Built in 1914, the crane was a recognizable feature of the city's harbor skyline.
