POLA NEGRI. BELLA DONNA — "Mramornoje Kino" movie poster.

POLA NEGRI. BELLA DONNA – movie poster from the “Mramornoje Kino” theater.

An original Soviet movie poster, published by the Moscow cinema “Мраморное кино,” dating from the NEP period in the 1920s. The poster advertises a screening of the American film Bella Donna, starring Pola Negri alongside Conway Tearle, Claude King, and Adolph Menjou. The publication details are preserved at the bottom: “Published by Mramornoe Cinema,” print run of 1,000 pieces, censorship mark, and printed by the Comrade Vorovsky Typography and Lithography Plant in Moscow.
The striking composition, rendered in a limited palette of reds and browns on cream-colored paper, features a large portrait of Pola Negri alongside smaller images of the other actors. The poster is a valuable document of early Soviet film culture and cinema advertising during the NEP period, as well as an interesting example of Russian commercial art from the 1920s, combining modern typography with a traditional, portrait-style depiction of movie stars.
Condition: the paper is creased, with visible folding marks, stains, and scuffs; there is a loss in the lower right corner. Despite the damage, it is intact and legible, with the graphic elements well preserved.
