Biography
Danka Jarzyńska—sculptor, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists and the Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques. She works primarily with traditional sculptural materials (bronze, marble, granite), and also creates ceramics and installations. She has exhibited in numerous galleries in the Tri-City area, as well as at the Center for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, in Bydgoszcz, Toruń, and Druskininkai (Lithuania). She lives and works on Sobieszewo Island and is an active member of the local community, working to improve the quality of its culture, natural environment, and public spaces. She is the creator of the “Gdańsk – Sobieszewska Island Granite Sculpture Open-Air Series” project and the organizer of its first edition, titled “Island in Granite,” as well as the editor of the catalog documenting and commenting on the event. As a curator, she also organized the exhibition “Przejście” at the Sopot Art Passage in Sopot Centrum (2018). She is a laureate of the 3rd edition of the Professor Tadeusz Maliński International NanoArt109 Competition, organized by Galerie Roi Doré in Paris. Her works are held in private collections around the world, including in Russia, Mexico, and the United States. The sculpture “Trace” was purchased by the Friends of Sobieszewo Island Association and is on display in a public space on the island.
