From 1947 to 1953, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (painting in the studios of Jan Sokołowski, Eugeniusz Arct, and Michał Bylina, and printmaking under Andrzej Rudziński). As early as 1951, while still a student, he won second prize at a painting exhibition during the Youth and Students Festival in Berlin. In 1953, he settled permanently in Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula River. In his works, he captured the picturesque landscapes of the town. He was an activist and a distinguished community leader, serving, among other roles, as president of the Society for the Preservation of Kazimierz’s Historic Monuments.
