Ivan Meštrović was one of the most significant sculptors of the 20th century, whose monumental works carry strong historical, religious, and national themes. His work influenced not only the Balkan sculptural tradition but also European modernism. Meštrović was the first sculptor to have a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York during his lifetime.
