Handwritten letter by the renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović, written and signed in Split on September 26, 1933.Original text in Croatian:
"Poštovani gospodine!
Tek mi je sada vaše pismo prispjelo u ruke, te rado ispunjam vaše želje i klijetim se sa osobitim poštovanjem.
Split, 26. IX. 1933."
English translation:
"Dear Sir!
Your letter has just reached my hands, and therefore I will fulfill your request and remain with deep respect.
Split, September 26, 1933."
Ivan Meštrović was one of the most significant sculptors of the 20th century, whose monumental works carry strong historical, religious, and national themes. His work influenced not only the Balkan sculptural tradition but also European modernism. Meštrović was the first sculptor to have a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York during his lifetime.
This handwritten document represents a unique collectible artifact, reflecting his personal and professional relationships."
