Jagiellońskiego. Jeden z najwybitniejszych znawców twórczości
Jana Kochanowskiego, drukarstwa staropolskiego oraz powiązań
kulturalnych polsko-włoskich. Autor ponad 500. rozpraw
naukowych.
Doktor honoris causa uniwersytetów w Mediolanie i w
Łodzi. Członek Polskiej Akademii Umiejętności oraz Towarzystwa
Naukowego Warszawskiego.
Za swą pracę odznaczony Krzyżem
Komandorskim z Gwiazdą Orderu Odrodzenia Polski (2000 rok), orderem
Grande Ufficiale Ordine Stella Della Solidarieta Italiana, Medalem
Komisji Edukacji Narodowej, Złotym Medalem „Zasłużony Kulturze –
Gloria Artis”.

Auction, which will be held on-site and on-line, you will be able to bid for a selection of books and old printed works from Professor Ulewicz’s collection.
“We have professors who are distinguished, as we all know, but we also have ones who are legends in their own lifetime, and that’s just what Professor Tadeusz Ulewicz was. Apart from being a distinguished scholar, he was also a great Polish patriot and a man of outstanding integrity,” says Professor Lucjan Suchanek.
Tadeusz Ulewicz (1917–2012) was a historian of literature and for many years held the Chair of Early Polish Literature at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków. An eminent authority on the poet Jan Kochanowski and his work, early Polish printing, and Polish–Italian cultural relations, Tadeusz Ulewicz published over 500 books and articles on these subjects. He was a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and several other Polish and foreign learned societies. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Università Cattolica di Sacro Cuore, Milan (1981), and by the University of Łódź (1998). The numerous Polish and Italian distinctions conferred on him included the Commander’s Cross with Star of the Polonia Restituta; the Italian distinction Grande Ufficiale (1 Classe) Ordine Stella della Solidarietà Italiana, awarded by the President of the Republic of Italy (2003); and the Gloria Artis Gold Medal for his contribution to Polish culture (2006).
