Leon Kosmulski (1904-1952) - graphic artist, teacher. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Stephen Batory University in Vilnius (painting under L. Slendzinski, graphic arts under J. Hopen), graduating in 1936. From 1947 he was a member of the Krakow group of the Nine Graphic Artists, with whom he held dozens of exhibitions in various Polish towns. During his student years, he worked exclusively in printmaking, and his achievements were so remarkable that he was even invited by George Hopen to the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of St. Stephen Batory as an assistant. In 1930, he received a prize from the Joseph Pilsudski Foundation for his Portrait of Stanislaw Augustus, a series of xylographs entitled Vilnius Churches, and a series of copper engravings entitled Forgotten Coffins.
