13.7 x 18.5 cm, watercolor, gouache, paper
Juliusz Kossak (1824 - 1899). This small, painted alla prima portrait of two horses - a gray horse and a chestnut - is executed lightly, with skill and a great feeling for the model. The composition is familiar from the artist's earlier work, whose painterly portraits of horses are recognizable at first glance. Kossak's small-format watercolors and gouaches are constantly in demand on the market and eagerly purchased by lovers of his talent.
The work presented at the auction is accompanied by an expert opinion of Prof. Dariusz Markowski (Torun).
The painting is signed and dated "Juliusz Kossak 1897" left/bottom.
