plater on copper, stoneware insert inside, height 30 cm; signed "Fraget, Warsaw, Plaque".
Good condition, hardly visible rubbing on edges.
Because of the rare insert, the crater can be used as a flower vase.
One of the oldest Polish Biedermeier-style platers, made of copper; later, due to economy, only platers on brass were produced. Dating of the object according to the type of the stamped signature.
The object belonged to the Biechoński family from a manor house in Żarnowiec, Podkarpacie, from which Stanislaw and Wojciech were known January Uprising insurgents. The manor in the early 20th century was donated to Maria Konopnicka. Then the crater was owned by painter Stanislaw Biechonski (1902-1975), who brought it from Lviv in 1945.
