wool, fabric, 34 x 34 cm (framed: 36 x 36 cm)
The artist was born in Polesie, Ukraine, and lives and works in Warsaw. In 2013, she graduated with a degree in artistic textiles and costume design from the Mykhailo Boychuk Kyiv Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts. She works primarily with artistic textiles, which have been the main medium of her creative practice since 2023.
Through slow, manual processes, she explores states of anxiety, emotional overload, and memory, shaped by personal experiences, relationships, and the impact of war. Her work focuses on the body, emotions, and the process of transformation, addressing themes of femininity, empathy, care, psychological resilience, and the rebuilding of a sense of security. She perceives fabric as a space where emotions can not only be expressed but also worked through and materially preserved.
In her practice, she uses hand-weaving and wet-felting techniques to create organic, tactile forms that straddle the line between object and process. She also creates paintings, but it is the medium of textiles that most fully allows her to explore themes of memory, migration, trauma, and inner transformation.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, and Latvia. Her works have been presented in galleries and as part of international projects dedicated to contemporary art, artistic textiles, and social dialogue.
