Biogram
Hiszpański malarz, grafik, dekorator, ilustrator i teoretyk malarstwa. Był czołowym przedstawicielem surrealizmu. W latach 1921-1926 uczęszczał do Akademii San Fernando w Madrycie. W 1926r. wyjechał do Paryża, gzdie poznał m.in. P. Picassa i T. Tzarę. Związany był z G. Eluard, która była jego muzą. Przyjaźnił się z F. G. Lorca, L. Bunuel`em i R. Albertini. Kilka lat przebywał w Ameryce. Od 1982r. po śmierci swojej partnerki życiowej, wiódł życie w odosobnieniu. Dzięki indywidualnej metodzie twórczej (paranoicznokrytycznej) do swojej twórczości wprowadził atmosferę niezwykłości i fantastyki. Wprowadził wirtuozerską technikę graniczącą z iluzjonizmem.
