Władysław POPIELARCZYK (1925-1987).
Originally from Kociewie, he became associated with Warsaw. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (diploma from E. Kokoszko, 1955), having begun his artistic studies in Tricity. An eccentric and colorful personality of the Warsaw bohemia. He practiced easel and wall painting (more than 25 projects for the decoration of public buildings: frescoes, mosaics, reliefs, stained glass). In the 1960s he exhibited on the walls of the Barbican and opened a gallery on Piwna Street. He crowned his exhibitions with peculiar happenings involving the public in joint singing with guitar and dancing-dressing. He had more than 40 solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
