Grandson of Juliusz Kossak, nephew of Wojciech Kossak. He took painting lessons in Lviv with Zygmunt Rozwadowski and Stanisław Kaczor Batowski. He studied in Cracow and also trained in the studio of Wojciech Kossak. In addition to the themes associated with horse motifs, characteristic of the Kossaks, Karol painted landscapes and was also involved in book illustration. He used almost exclusively watercolors and pen.
